Rev Dr Nyambura J. Njoroge is the first woman to be ordained by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), Kenya, in 1982 after graduating from St. Paul's United Theological College, Limuru, Kenya, with a Bachelor of Divinity. She did her Master of Arts in Religion at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. She later joined Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey, USA where she graduated Cum Laude and became the first PCEA ordained woman to earn a PhD from a Theological Seminary in 1992. She became the Executive Secretary of the World Council of Churches in March 1999.
